We have launched our new Client Collaboration portal.  A customized Liferay Social Office instance will function as the primary interface when working collaboratively with our customers.

Clients will be linked to other external client support systems (Shared File Repository, Trouble Ticket, Subscription Services) through the portal.

I was reviewing some of my personal notes that I have kept over the years.  I ran across this bit of information that I wrote about collaboration and giving back to others.

As professionals, we should be thankful for the multitude of unamed individuals who aided in our development. No one got to where they are solely on their own. If you really gave it some serious thought, there was somebody who gave of their time and passed on critical knowledge to you. There was someone who gave you a break when no one else would. There was someone who believed in you, no matter the odds. Those are attributes we should appreciate on a daily basis.

We should not horde knowledge nor should we expect to be the one "all knowing" individual. It is both stressful and unnecessary. Collaboration, cooperation, parterning and mentoring are good skills for anyone to have in their repetoire of talents. Giving back to mankind is a honorable act of kindness. It is the opposite of being selfish and greedy.

Working On A Portfolio Solution To Showcase Client Web Development Work

I am working on highlighting some of the website development projects we have been involved with for the last few years.  This information will be presented on the C Stevens Jr & Assocates main website. I hope to have at least three highlighted websites completed before the end of this week. This has turned into a customized solution since I could not find a good portfolio presentation extension to use.

Everyone should get out today and enjoy this great planet!  As I was reminded yesterday, Earth Day should be celebrated everyday.

On April 16th, I was fortunate to be able to celebrate the 5th anniversary of receiving a kidney transplant.  I have counted my blessings ever since I recieved a surprising Sunday afternoon call informing me that a transplant was available.  I have come a long way since that day and I am still grateful to be so lucky.

I am proud to finally have time to dedicate to blogging once again.  I have spent the last three years setting up the CMS Creations, YesWeGiveBack.Org, and various other brands that will represent my firm.  There has been a lot of work involved in setting up the physical infrastructure of a web development and consulting business.  I am a one person team, so it has taken some time to get things working right.

I have met and collaborated with some great individuals during this time period.  I am thankful for meeting them and have learned many new things about life.  I still believe I made the right decision to be here in Southern California and am very grateful of my circumstances.  It hasn't always been easy doing this, but I must admit to myself that it has been fun.

This blog will basically go over the technical things I am working on or have completed.  There are so many projects I work on and there are just as many goals/plans I have for this business.

I have selected C Stevens Jr & Associates as the eventual business name.  I believe that name best describes what I envision the business becoming -- an enterprise where I am proud to have my name associated with it.  I am dedicated to having at least 30% or more of my work going towards helping others with their Information Technology needs, on a "Pro Bono" basis.  I believe that is the best way for me to "give back" for the many blessings I have been blessed with.
